Heartsaver® CPR Automated External Defibrillator (AED) is a classroom, video-based, instructor-led course that teaches adult, child and infant CPR and AED use, as well as how to relieve choking by an adult, child and infant.
This course teaches skills with the American Heart Association’s research-proven Practice-While-Watching (PWW) technique, which allows instructors to observe the students, provide feedback and guide the students’ learning of skills.
This course is for anyone with limited or no medical training, who needs a course completion card in CPR and AED use to meet job, regulatory or other requirements. It's perfect for safety personnel, caregivers, school staff and those working in a medical setting that do not provide direct patient care.
Classes will be held the second Thursday of each month, at 6:00 p.m., and will run for 3-4 hours, depending on the number of students.
Classes are free of charge to residents and businesses of SCFD-9. For those outside SCFD-9, there is a nominal fee of $10. Exact change or check only, please.
A certification card, valid for 2 years, will be issued upon completion of the class. All participants are required to perform a CPR skills test.
